DUST AWARENESS eLEARNING

This course is for you if you are in any way likely to come into contact with harmful dust in the workplace.

The harmful effects of dust can vary from skin irritation to lung cancer. Exposure to excessive amounts can create respiratory problems, respiratory disease is the second biggest killer globally. Many workplaces involve working with tools and equipment that create harmful dust. Since dust is considered a hazardous material, the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health 2002 (COSHH) requires employers to protect workers from the risk of exposure.

This Dust Awareness course will teach workers how to be aware of, manage and avoid the serious health risks associated with dust. This course is approved by the world’s largest health and safety organisation, the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH). Employers will then become compliant with the COSHH 2002 Regulations.

On completion of this course, learners will understand:

  • How dust affects us and the dangers involved when working with dust.
  • How to control dust at work.
  • The employee and employer's legal responsibilities.
  • How to safely use the correct respiratory protection equipment (RPE).
  • How to employ safe practices to avoid or minimise their exposure to harmful dust.
  • How to help reduce the number of respiratory diseases.
  • Anyone who will or might come into contact with dust in the workplace.
  • 20-30 minutes to complete, with multiple-choice questions.
  • On successful completion of this course, learners will gain a qualification and receive a certificate acknowledging their course of study, which can be used to provide evidence for compliance and audit.
