MANUAL HANDLING AWARENESS eLEARNING

This course is for you if you are in any way involved with manual handling and lifting within the workplace.

Each year, more than a third of workplace injuries can be attributed to manual handling. For this reason, the Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992 requires employers to provide their workers with adequate information and training regarding manual handling. Complying with this law will protect your employees from undue harm, as well as save your business the financial cost of lost work days.

This Manual Handling course will teach all levels of employees how to reduce the risk of harm at work by using safe manual handling techniques. The course is approved by the world’s largest health and safety organisation, the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH). Employers will become legally compliant with the Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992.

Employees will learn the correct lifting techniques and maximum weight recommendations.

On completion of this course, learners will understand:

  • What manual handling is.
  • The common injuries associated with manual handling.
  • Body mechanics.
  • The lever effect.
  • The guidelines for lifting.
  • How to lift and carry safely.
  • How to prevent injury.
  • Assessing the risks using “LITE”.
  • How to eliminate or reduce the risk.
  • How to lift and carry with minimal strain, eliminating manual handling injuries at work.

As an employer, you must ensure that all employees are informed, trained and competent. To assist with the online learning experience, we have incorporated English voiceovers into this eLearning course, which will significantly enhance accessibility and foster a deeper understanding of the content.

These voiceovers provide an inclusive learning experience, catering to diverse audiences, including those with visual impairments or individuals who may struggle with reading comprehension.

By offering auditory reinforcement, learners can absorb information more effectively, reinforcing key concepts and improving overall retention, promoting a more accessible and comprehensible educational experience.

  • Anyone who is or will be involved in lifting, moving and manual handling in the workplace.
  • 20-30 minutes to complete, with multiple-choice questions.
  • On successful completion of this course, learners will gain a qualification and receive a certificate acknowledging their course of study, which can be used to provide evidence for compliance and audit.
