Description

Dust Awareness

The harmful effects of dust can vary from skin irritation to lung cancer. Exposure to excessive amounts can create respiratory problems – and respiratory disease is the second biggest killer globally!

Many workplaces involve work with tools and equipment that create harmful dust. Since dust is considered a hazardous material, the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health 2002 (COSHH) requires employers to protect workers from the risk of exposure.

This Dust Awareness ecourse will teach workers how to be aware of, manage and avoid the serious health risks associated with dust. This course is approved by the world’s largest health and safety organisation, the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH). Once the course and assessment are completed, you will receive an IOSH accredited certificate.

The topics will include:

  • How dust affects us
  • Controlling dust at work
  • Legal responsibilities
  • Respiratory protection equipment (RPE)

  • Employers will be compliant with the COSHH 2002 Regulations.
  • Workers will employ safe practices to avoid or minimise their exposure to harmful dust.
  • Educated in the dangers of dust, your workforce will help to reduce the number of respiratory diseases.
