Description

Manual Handling

Each year, more than a third of workplace injuries can be attributed to manual handling.

For this reason, the Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992 requires employers to provide their workers with adequate information and training regarding manual handling. Complying with this law will protect your employees from undue harm, as well as save your business the financial cost of lost work days.

This Manual Handling at Work ecourse will teach all levels of employees how to reduce the risk of harm by using safe manual handling techniques. The course is approved by the world’s largest health and safety organisation, the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH). Once the course and assessment are completed, you will receive an IOSH accredited certificate.

Employees will learn the correct lifting techniques and maximum weight recommendations.

The course will also cover:

  • What is manual handling?
  • Common injuries
  • Body mechanics
  • Lever effect
  • Guidelines for lifting
  • How to lift and carry
  • Preventing injury
  • Assessing the risk – “LITE”
