Onboarding Initiative of the Year – British Training Awards 2025

Construction Initiative of the Year – British Training Awards 2025

Lifetime Achievement Award Finalist: Tony Bates – International Safety Awards 2025

Raising the Bar in Onboarding: Finalists for Onboarding and Construction Initiative of the Year

At TEAM Safety Services, we are passionate about delivering innovative, practical learning and development solutions that improve safety outcomes across the construction sector and beyond.

Over the past year, we launched a comprehensive Health and Safety Induction eLearning course on our fully interactive Learning Management System (LMS). Designed by our TEAM of industry-leading health and safety experts, this platform is transforming how national organisations, such as McConnell, train and onboard their workforce. This eLearning initiative has earned us a finalist spot for the Onboarding Initiative of the Year and Construction Initiative of the Year at the British Training Awards 2025, presented by New Possible.

By delivering high-quality, consistent training that’s accessible anytime, anywhere, we are helping companies create safer, more productive construction sites from day one.

About the British Training Awards

The British Training Awards celebrate individuals, teams, and suppliers who are passionate about the role of learning and development in building thriving organisations. With over 360 entries from organisations across the UK, the awards have been judged by a panel of esteemed learning and development professionals from leading companies, including Bentley Motors, Booking.com, Bupa, Lloyds Banking Group and Lidl GB.

Notable fellow finalists in our category include Deloitte and Serco. In other categories, companies such as BT Group, Costa Coffee, Cera Care, Jaguar Land Rover, Nationwide Building Society, NHS Foundation Trust, Superdrug, and Transport for London are also finalists.

Being recognised alongside these industry leaders highlights the impact and quality of our onboarding and eLearning solutions.

Honouring a Lifetime of Leadership in Safety: Tony Bates Nominated for Lifetime Achievement Award

We are equally proud to announce that our Co-Founder and Director, Tony Bates, has been named a finalist for the Lifetime Achievement Award at the International Safety Awards 2025, presented by the British Safety Council.

Tony's career spans over four decades, beginning as a Firefighter with Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service in 1984. His dedication and leadership led him to become a Watch Commander, where he managed critical emergency responses. In 2009, his exemplary service earned him the 'Firefighter of the Year' award from the Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service.

Since the early 2000s, Tony has served as a health and safety Trainer and Consultant for industry leaders such as Apollo and Engie.

Recognising that prevention is as critical as response, Tony co-founded TEAM Safety Services Ltd. in 2009 with two fellow Firefighters, Ellis Arnett and Mick Doyle. Together, they sought to address the root causes of emergencies they had witnessed throughout their careers. Under their leadership, TEAM Safety Services has transformed safety standards across multiple industries, delivering innovative solutions, expert training, and consultancy to national construction firms, the National Health Service (NHS) and many London and South-East England British Councils and housing associations across the UK.

Tony has also developed and authored ground-breaking courses, including the UKATA-accredited Asbestos Project Manager course, where he stands as the sole qualified trainer in South England authorised to deliver this specialised training, and the IOSH-accredited Fire Risk Assessment course. Tony meticulously designed both courses to fill critical gaps in risk management and training, tackling significant workplace health hazards. His contributions have significantly enhanced workplace safety standards and education.

Tony played a key role in creating TEAM Safety Services’ eLearning platform, delivering high-quality, affordable safety training accredited by IOSH, CITB, and UKATA. His efforts with Ellis and Mick within TEAM Safety Services have set new standards in training accessibility and consistency, helping businesses improve compliance and build stronger safety cultures.

About the International Safety Awards

Now in its 67th year, the International Safety Awards recognise organisations and individuals worldwide who have demonstrated a commitment to preventing workplace injuries and work-related ill health. The newly introduced Lifetime Achievement Award honours those who have made outstanding contributions to workplace health, safety, and well-being throughout their careers.

We are so proud of our Co-Founder and Director, Tony Bates, for his lifelong legacy of championing accessible safety solutions and protecting the lives of local and national communities.

A Shared Commitment to Safer Workplaces

Being named finalists for both the Onboarding Initiative of the Year and the Lifetime Achievement Award reflects our unwavering mission: to make safety education effective, engaging, and accessible. Whether through pioneering digital onboarding tools or decades of dedicated leadership, TEAM Safety Services has proven to consistently set the standard for excellence in health and safety training and consultancy.

We extend our gratitude to our dedicated team, loyal clients, and partners across the UK for being part of this journey. These nominations are not just a celebration of past achievements but a sign of the exciting impact still to come.

Stay tuned as we await the final results in the coming months! Thank you for supporting our mission in safety.
