TEAM Safety Services Announced as Finalist for Fire Safety Project of the Year 2025

We are delighted to announce that TEAM Safety Services has been shortlisted as a finalist in the prestigious Institute of Fire Safety Managers (IFSM) Awards 2025, under the category Fire Safety Project of the Year.

Our Award-Nominated Project

In May 2025, TEAM Safety Services launched a national initiative to improve resident safety and support housing providers preparing for upcoming legislation on Personal Emergency Evacuation Plans (PEEPs). The project delivers two free tools:

This project addresses a vital gap in current fire safety practice: putting people, not just policies, at the centre of fire safety.

It empowers residents to understand and reduce their own risks while enabling housing providers to act early, inclusively, and at scale. The result is a forward-thinking, accessible solution that has already gained attention from housing associations, councils, and fire safety professionals across the UK.

Why This Project Stands Out

Unlike many tools in the industry, our approach is privacy-conscious, inclusive, and designed for practical use in the real world. It avoids intrusive data collection, prioritises accessibility for all residents, and supports housing providers in meeting future compliance without heavy costs.

Our Resident Assessment Form offers a fast and respectful way to begin identifying PEEP needs without breaching trust between residents and housing providers. It highlights potential needs, allowing for professional follow-up while maintaining resident dignity, and also saves time, costs, and resources.

The Flat Fire Safety Guide empowers residents to recognise risks and act safely within their own homes. Prioritising accessibility, the guide features voiceovers and visual cues to ensure that all residents, including those with hearing loss, language barriers, cognitive impairments, or learning disabilities, can engage with the guidance independently.

The Form and Guide can be easily accessed without the need for residents to log in via brand-customised webpages and QR Codes, which are included in the free service.

While traditional fire safety practices often stop at the front door, this project actively encourages housing providers to assess personal risks within individual flats as well as in communal areas, stairwells, and escape routes. It represents a clear step forward in aligning with anticipated legislation, while promoting behavioural change across residential communities.

By bridging the gap between residents’ lived experiences and housing providers’ responsibilities, this project moves the sector closer to safer, stronger, and more resilient communities, now and for the future.

Our Residential PEEPs Service

Alongside these free digital tools, TEAM Safety Services has also developed a comprehensive assessor form for in-person Residential PEEPs (RPEEPs).

This detailed assessment, conducted by our highly qualified Fire Assessors, all with extensive frontline experience in the Fire Service, provides housing providers with a comprehensive understanding of resident needs and individualised evacuation procedures. 

Unlike our free online Resident Assessment Form, which serves as a first-step self-assessment identifier, the assessor-led RPEEP delves deeper into individual requirements and ensures full compliance with emerging legislation.

By combining our free resident resources with our specialist assessor services, housing providers can take a phased approach: raising awareness and identifying needs at scale through the online tools, then following up with expert-led, tailored assessments where required. This blended approach is cost-effective, respectful of residents’ privacy, and ensures no one is left behind when it comes to safe evacuation planning.

At TEAM Safety Services, we don’t just provide templates—we offer end-to-end fire safety solutions. From early identification through to detailed RPEEP assessments, training, and consultancy, we ensure housing providers are fully supported in meeting both current and upcoming responsibilities while keeping residents safe and confident in their homes.

Their expertise and passion ensured that the project was inclusive, practical, and ready to scale nationwide.
